For those visitors who require the use of public car parks, some of the larger sites include: Hounds Hill (750 cars), Talbot Road (740), Central (825) and Dickson Road (500). The first three are pay and display, and dickson road is pay on exit. Central is a surface car park and the others are multi-story.

In 2003 major changes were made to parking enforcement in Blackpool. The new system is called ParkRite. Blackpool council took over responsibility for parking enforcement, with council Parking Attendants (instead of traffic Wardens who
are employed by the police) patrolling car parks and streets. The attendants will issue Penalty Charge Notices for parking contraventions and these charges can be very expensive. The police will issue tickets to drivers of vehicles causing obstruction on the streets.

BLACKPOOL CAR PARKING

Because of the large numbers of people who visit Blackpool there is a great demand for car parking and it can be quite hard to find a parking space. Although there are public car parks the cost can work out quite expensive, and in general visitors prefer on site car parking at their accommodation in Blackpool. Many hotels, guest houses and self catering holiday flats are able to provide car park facilities and it would be advisable to confirm this requirement at the time of booking. When enquiring about car parking, you may wish to consider wether you want to use your car in Blackpool or in which case you will need a car park that you can drive in and out of during your stay, or wether you just want to leave your car in the car park for the duration of your holiday. Some accommodation provides guaranteed car parking, and others have limited parking and may provide this on a first come first served basis.
